Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the correlation between eosinophil count, carotid plaque CD62p level and the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke.

Methods

50 patients diagnosed as having acute ischemic stroke were include in this study. The patients were divided into 2 groups according to whether there were carotid plaques. All of them were examined by ultrasonography of neck vessels, eosinophil and CD62p level. The t test was used for comparison between the two groups.

Results

There was no significant difference in the baseline characteristics between two groups (P > 0.05). Stroke patients with carotid plaque formation had a significantly lower eosinophil count than did patients without carotid artery plaque(P <0.05), with a higher plasma level of CD62p (P< 0.05) and more recurrence in 1 year follow-up(P < 0.05).

Conclusion

Carotid plaque, the level of eosinophil and CD62p in acute ischemic stroke are closely related to the recurrence of the acute ischemic stroke.

Key words: Acute ischemic stroke, Carotid artery plaque, Eosinophiland, CD62p
